Decorated teen bull rider Lance Lara is getting back to work to continue to make a name for himself in the bull riding industry after recent setbacks put his career on hold. Lara is only 15 years old and already holds two world championships, one reserve world championship, two state championships and one national championship.

Caldwell’s Groce, Sims win TCL doubles title

The reigning American Cornhole League (ACL) advanced doubles world champions, Josh Groce and A.J. Sims of Caldwell, recently won the Texas Cornhole League (TCL) State Championship in the Open Doubles division for the third consecutive year.

Kovasovic named to Academic All-State

Somerville graduate Gabby Kovasovic was recently named to the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) 2019-2020 Academic All-State Softball Team as a First Team player. Kovasovic was Somerville High School’s valedictorian for its 2020 graduation with a 3.96 GPA.

Hughes sits at #15 in PRCA standings

Cross country, football, volleyball begins Monday

Burleson County youth rodeo results announced

The 54th Annual Burleson County Youth Rodeo announced the average winners from the July 24-26 event at Buddy and Edile Lightsey Arena in Caldwell. In the goat tying event Makenna Shook was the winner of the senior girls division, Kinley Shook won the junior girls division and Kene Bracewall won the nine and under division.

CHS’ Jaster gets HLSR scholarship

Caldwell High School graduate Michaela Jaster was recently awarded the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) 2020 scholarship for Burleson County. Jaster was one of the 644 recipients of the $20,000 scholarships given by the HLSR.
