Somerville eyes higher tax rate of 74.116 cents

The Somerville City Council was scheduled to vote on a proposed tax rate of 74.116 cents per $100 valuation at their Tuesday, Aug. 12, meeting, an increase of 6.421 cents over last year’s rate of 67.695 cents.The higher rate is being sought to cover debt service on the city’s $1.

County sales tax revenues show decrease in August

Sales tax revenues showed a decrease for August 2025 from August 2024 for Burleson County in Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock’s latest monthly report.However, all cities within the county showed increases, according to the acting comptroller.

The Burleson County commissioners court on Monday, Aug. 11, voted for a lower tax rate for 2025-26 while generating a similar amount of revenue.A tax rate of 44.785 cents per $100 was approved for publication. This is a decrease in the tax rate from 46 cents per $100 last year.
