ALTON “SCOOTER” LUEDKE

Alton Frank “Scooter” Luedke passed away December 31, 2023. He was 92.

Alton was born August 6, 1931, in Deanville, Texas, to Ella Marie (Blinka) and John Benjamin “JB” Luedke, Jr.

He was a resident of San Patricio County since 1958.

On August 6, 1955, Alton was united in marriage with Alice Bremer at Grace Lutheran Church in Sinton and their marriage lasted for 68 years.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, 1st Artillery, where he served in Germany during the Korean conflict in 1952 to 1954.

Alton was employed by the Texas Department of Transportation and retired after 29 years. Prior to TxDOT, Alton worked for Alcoa in Rockdale, Texas.

As a youngster, Alton was baptized on September 6, 1931, and confirmed on April 14, 1946, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Deanville, and was currently a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sinton, where he remained active until his passing.

Alton served in numerous positions in the congregation, he served one term as the Southwestern Texas Synod Lutheran Man in Mission President, and was a member of the Synod Council. He served as a member of the ELCA churchwide Lutheran Men in Mission Board. Alton sang in the Sinton Community Choir and worked with Via de Cristo for 10 years.

As an active member of the Sinton community, Alton was involved with 4-H and the A&H Show for 35 years and with the Boy Scouts.

His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, hunting, gardening, tinkering with his maintainer and managing the family farm.

Alton was a dedicated HAM Radio Operator.

Preceding him in death are his parents: JB and Ella Luedke; one brother; two sisters and two brothersin- law.

Survivors include his wife: Alice Luedke from Sinton, Texas; son: Rev. Dr. Alvin John Luedke (Becky) from Burton, Texas; daughter: Marie Allaine Dittmar (Jerry) from Harper, Texas; grandchildren: Travis Dittmar (Lindsay) from Bryan, Texas; Justin Dittmar (Kayla) from Edna, Texas; Katie Luedke from Conroe, Texas; great-grandchildren: Karoline Dittmar and Charlie Dittmar, both from Edna, Texas; Barrett Dittmar from Bryan, Texas; Dominic Watson and Eden Watson, both from Conroe, Texas; brother: Rev. Delmas Luedke (Roberta) from Kent, WA; sister-in-law Maxine Luedke from Seguin, Texas; brother-in-law: Dr. John Bremer, Sr. (Patsy) from West Sinton, Texas; sisterin- law: Elaine Brundrett (Raymond) from Corpus Christi, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton. The family received guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Sinton with Rev. John David Nedbalek officiating.

A Graveside Service was held the same afternoon, at 2:00 p.m. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Pallbearers: Travis Dittmar, Justin Dittmar, Patrick Clarke, John Bremer Jr, Joey John, and Troy Nedbalek.

Honorary Pallbearers: Bobby Nedbalek, Rudy Davila and the group that talked with KA5PDM at 12:25 p.m. Monday through Saturday on frequency 146.820.
