Graveside services will be held on October 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Historic SPJST Cemetery if weather permits. If the weather is bad, services will be in the chapel at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Frances E. “Sissie” Giles was born on October 11, 1949, to Estelle Lenora Nedbalek Giles and William Jacob Giles, Sr. in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas. She was the second child and only daughter.

Sissie graduated from Beaumont High School in Beaumont, Texas, the class of 1967. She attended the University of Texas School of Nursing and Graduated in 1972 with her BSN degree. She passed her state board exam and became registered nurse that same year.

Sissie loved being a nurse and hesitantly retired after 35 years of service. Towards the end of her nursing career, she worked as a Physic Nurse and as a Triage Nurse.

Sissie had several years of post-graduate hours towards a master’s degree.

She loved stamp collecting, having pen pals, antique dish collecting and reading books of all kinds.

She was inducted as a Daughter of the American Revolution on November 5, 2018, into Daniel Coleman Chapter, Georgetown, Texas.

She has been a member of the Episcopal Church since 1974.

Sissie never was married or had children, but everyone she met became her family, and every child hers.

She loved her dogs and cats and spoiled them like family.

We are grateful for the sure hope of resurrection from the dead through faith in Jesus Christ our Savior and are greatly looking forward to seeing her again in Heaven.

She had a true servant’s heart and helped so many people during her life. Sissie was gifted in hospitality and listening with her heart to any family or friends that were in need.

She had a contagious smile, sparkling eyes, a very pithy wit.

She was a true friend to all and will always be remembered for her giving heart and loving spirit. She loved to make everyone feel loved, needed and wanted. She always kept a smile on their faces.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle L. Giles and William J. Giles, Sr.; her very dearest friend, Frances Holland of Poteet, Texas; nephew, Carl Wayne “Bubba” Stark of Baytown, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her loving brother, William Jacob Giles, Jr. and his wife, Mona Gaye Giles, of Brenham, Texas; cousin, Mary Ann Aspgren of Caldwell, Texas, and her daughter, Mandalay and children; her nieces, Teri Michele Tieman and her husband and children of Baytown, Texas, Christina M. Ewing and her daughter, Madison, from Kerrville, Texas; nephew, Jack Kelly Ickes of Orlando, Florida; and her godson, Justin Holland, son of Frances Holland of Poteet, Texas.

For their loving care and dedication to Sissie, the family would like to thank Lizzy, an RN with Travis Country Hospice, Dr. Dina J. Tebcherang and staff of Nurses and Therapists of Texas Oncology, and especially, her attending Dr. Eileen Cook at St. David’s North.
