Joyce (Cook) Mackay, 91, of Caldwell, Texas, passed away on October 1, 2023, at home, surrounded by friends and family, after a short illness.
Joyce was born on July 11, 1932, in Washington, D.C., to Elizabeth Salphine and Wilbur Ramey.
Celebrations of her life will be held at a future date.
Joyce graduated from John Marshall High in Rochester, New York. During her life, she held various positions at Worchester County Institute for Savings, including Assistant Treasurer and Manager of Savings Bank Life Insurance and Vice President of the bank. She earned her Real Estate license and was part of Mackay Real Estate. She later worked for Canandaigua Wine in Canandaigua, New York, and served as President of Savings Bank Women of Massachusetts.
Joyce loved cooking, gardening, reading and singing, but most of all, she loved her family. She was a member of Worchester County Light Opera in Worchester, appearing in many plays presented by the organization.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cook; and later husband, Carl Mackay; her mother, Elizabeth (Salphine) Wheat; her granddaughter, Ashley Tuiskula; and brothers, Douglas Wheat and Bud Salphine.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Tuiskula of Caldwell, Texas, with whom she lived; and son, Seth Cook of Spencer, Massachusetts; stepdaughter, Bonnie (Mackay) Gustafson of Marlborough, Massachusetts; her brothers, Donald Wheat of Macedon, New York, Curtis Wheat of Victor, New York; and sisters, Corliss Shadoan of Noblesville, Indiana, Betsy Sponable of Morristown, New York, Carol Burdick of the Village of Florida, and Karen Johnson of Lakeside, California.
Joyce leaves six grandchildren, Richard Goodney of Colorado City, Texas, Jennifer Sowinski of Caldwell, Texas, Christopher Cloutier of Gardner, Massachusetts, Jeffrey Cook of Rutland, Massachusetts, Rebecca Cook of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Cathleen Fanion of Paxton, Massachusetts.
Joyce had fourteen greatgrandchildren, Alesia Bean of Midland, Texas, Andrew Goodney and Angelina Goodney both of Colorado City, Texas,Alec Goodney of San Antonio, Texas, Cheryl Lawrence of Westborough, Massachusetts, Oliver Sowinski of Caldwell, Texas, Christopher Cloutier Jr. of Kennesaw, Georgia, Liam Cloutier of North Brookfield, Massachusetts, Rachel Cloutier of Worchester, and Megaen Thebeau of East Brookfield, Massachusetts.
She also had five greatgreat- grandchildren, Elijah and Rilynn Goodney, Paisley Ramsey, Story Buch and Brantley Buch, all of San Antonio, Texas.
Joyce was a wonderful spirit and was loved by so many. She will be greatly missed.
