A Mass of Christian Burial for Severiano Martinez, 77, of Caldwell, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell, with Father Melvin Dornak officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell.
Rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Martinez died on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at his home in Caldwell.
Severiano was born on Feb. 21, 1943, in Cucamo, Mexico, to Candelario Velez Cerda and Susana Martinez Perez.
On Sept. 4, 1963, he married Domitila Velez Cerda.
Severiano was an honorable, hard-working man who was fully dedicated to his family, family members said. He loved his wife and all of his kids.
He was always cheerful and enjoyed singing for everyone to hear. He would love to be remembered as his happy self, always willing to spend time with his family, they said.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
Severiano is survived by his son, Francisco Martinez and wife, Delores; his daughters, Magdalena Monreal and husband, Juan, Grace Martinez, Rosario Martinez and husband, Gerardo Palomo, Juanita Garcia and husband, Jesus, Flor Moreno and husband, Carlos, Alma de Velazco and husband, Sergio, Susi Jara and husband, Ruben, Luz Martinez, Maria de la Luz and husband, Victor Montoya, Moni Martinez, and Janeth Leyva and husband, Jose; his brothers, Martin Martinez and wife, Julia, Leonardo Martinez and wife, Victoria, Diego Martinez and wife, Andrea, and Pedro Martinez and wife, Juana; his sisters, Catalina Martinez, Porfiria Martinez and husband, Alfonso, and Juana Martinez and husband, Andres; his grandchildren, Silvina, Juan Jose, Anita and Lisette Monreal, Sergio, Adriana and Arely Aguilar, Luis Felipe, Christian, Estrella and Diego Melendes, Lizbeth and Edwin Garcia, Carlos Daniel, Yahir and Naomi Moreno, Sergio, Yazmin and Lilly de Velazco, Karen and Hanna Jara, Sofia, Diogo and Jacobo Tapia, Tadeo Montoya, Derian and Mateo Martinez, Damian Leyva; and various great-grandchildren.
