Yeguas lose three at Somerville Tournament

The Somerville Yeguas lost three games last Friday and Saturday at their home tournament -- 12-4 to St. Joseph Catholic, 14-7 to Bartlett and 14-4 to Brookshire Royal. Against St. Joseph, the Yeguas trailed 6-0 after two innings and 11-1 after three.

Lady Yeguas beat Iola to open district

Last Tuesday, the Lady Yeguas opened district play with an 18-7 stomping of Iola on the road. Abigail Flencher had a great game at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a homer in the fourth and singles in the fifth, sixth and seventh. She had three runs scored and four RBIs.

Hughson, Chapman win gold in Madisonville

Last Friday, the Caldwell tennis team traveled to Madisonville and played in the Mustang Invitational Varsity #2 Tournament with Connor Hughson and Waylon Chapman placing first in Boys Doubles.

CHS girls place 9th, boys 11th at Brenham Tourney

The Caldwell Lady Hornets Golf team placed ninth, and the boys placed 11th on March 1-2 at the Brenham Tournament. The girls, competing mostly against 5A and 6A schools on March 1, finished with a 434 score. Freshman Sarah Boniol competed as a medalist and shot a team best of 98.

Lady Hornets fall to Hutto, Bryan

The Lady Hornets had a rough time in non-tournament play last week. However, they were 3-2 in the Franklin Tournament. Last Tuesday, Caldwell traveled to Hutto, falling to the Lady Hippos 9-6.

Caldwell Hornets finish 2-1-1 at home tournament

The Caldwell Hornets went 2-1-1 last weekend at the Caldwell Tournament. Caldwell lost to Lexington 4-1 on Thursday, March 2,, tied College Station JV 6-6, on the same day and then defeated Anderson-Shiro 8-3 on Friday, March 3, and Bryan JV 9-5 on Saturday, March 4.

Yeguas fall to Milano 60-49 in area playoff

The Somerville Yeguas fell to Milano 60-49 last Thursday in the area playoff at Bryan High School to conclude a 1716 season and a secondplace district finish. The Yeguas also defeated West Hardin 7262 on Feb. 21 at Willis High School to win the bi-district title for the second consecutive year.
