Richard “Rick” Dominic Gilbert, 60, of Caldwell died on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, in Bryan, Texas.

Rick was born on Nov. 29, 1959, in Houston, Texas, to James Haywood Gilbert and Brenda Joyce (Lemley) Gilbert.

Rick was a retired deputy with the Harris County Sheriff’s Department.

Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trail rides.

He was an avid animal lover.

He was a scout and muleskinner for the Salt Grass Trail Ride.

Rick was a lifetime member of the Lazy 8 Wagon, mule skinned for Wagon 14 and a member of the Wagon 6 family.

When he was younger, he was a competitive shooter with the IPSC matches.

He loved his family dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rick is survived by his lifelong partner, Debbie Humphrey, of Caldwell; his sons, James Paul Gilbert of Waller, and Logan Alan Gilbert, of Houston; his sisters, Linda Atchley and husband, Gary, of Caldwell, and Donna Gebhardt and husband, Joe, of Sealy; his grandchildren, Annabelle, of Waller, and Terra Gilbert, of Houston; his uncle and aunt, Bennie and Debbie Lemley of Arlington; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Rick leaves behind eight beloved fur babies, Belle, Abby, Shelby, Kamo Kitty, Fuego, Mae Mae, Jigs and Dusty.
