Possibly sparks from passing vehicle
Sparks from a passing vehicle possibly caused numerous small grass fires on Wednesday afternoon, April 23, along about a 15-mile stretch of State Highway 21 West from the Lee County line to Caldwell.
Caldwell Fire Chief Harry Bowers said no foul play is suspected, and the sparks may have come from a tire rim or wheel bearings as an eastbound vehicle was experiencing tire trouble.
