Snook approves tax abatements for C-LARS

The Snook City Council on Monday, March 24, unanimously approved a five-year tax abatement agreement for C-LARS, LLC, for up to $4 million worth of property improvements.Taxes will be abated at 100% for the first three years and 50 percent for the following two years.

County sales tax revenues show decrease in March

Sales tax revenues showed a decrease for March 2025 from March 2024 for Burleson County in Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar’s latest monthly report.And, the cities of Caldwell Snook also showed decreases, according to the comptroller. However, the City of Somerville had an increase.

Man charged in THC possession

A Bryan man was arrested by Caldwell police on Monday, March 17, on a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop on State Highway 21 West.

Man arrested in stolen firearm case

A 27-year-old Bryan man was arrested on Thursday night, March 20, on theft of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm charges after a Caldwell police traffic stop on State Highway 21 West.

Look out for cyclists, pedestrians on roads

Bicycle and pedestrian traffic crashes are on the rise in Texas.In 2023, 914 bicyclists and pedestrians died in traffic crashes in Texas. It’s part of a rising trend in recent years as pedestrian deaths went up 22% and bicyclist fatalities increased 58% from 2019-2023.
