Man charged in felony firearm possession case

A 19-year-old Crockett man was arrested by a Caldwell police officer on Tuesday, Aug. 18, on a felon in possession of a firearm charge after a reckless driving traffic stop on State Highway 21, near the State Highway 36 intersection.

A DPS trooper arrested a 34-year-old Bryan man on Thursday, Aug. 20, on a felony drug possession charge after a traffic stop on State Highway 21.

Man, woman charged in agg assault case

A Caldwell woman and a Hearne man were arrested and charged on Aug. 19 with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with an Aug. 3 incident involving a handgun pointed at a drive-through restaurant employee.

County appraisal Board approves $1.2M budget

The Burleson County Appraisal District Board approved its 2027 operating budget $1,259,938 at their Tuesday, Aug. 18, meeting.This year’s budget included $673,664 in personnel costs, $449,574 in contractual expenses and $133,700 in the supplies and administrative category.

County sales tax shows increase in August

Sales tax revenues showed an increase for August 2026 from August 2025 for Burleson County in Texas Comptroller Don Huffines’ latest monthly report.And, the cities of Caldwell and Snook also showed increases, while the City of Somerville showed a decrease.
