County sales tax revenues down almost 40% in August

Sales tax revenues were down by nearly 40 percent in August for Burleson County in Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar’s latest monthly report. The cities of Caldwell and Somerville also saw major declines in sales tax revenues from the previous year’s August totals.

POSGCD board to get update on Mud Creek issue

Austin man arrested on drug charge

An Austin man was arrested on Sunday, Oct. 11, on a felony drug charge after a traffic stop by DPS Trooper Clint Nance on State Highway 21 near County Road 104.

Deputy Cheatham responded to criminal trespass on F.M. 60 E., nothing was located. Deputy Burkhalter performed traffic enforcement on County Road 300. Deputy Strouth responded to livestock on F.M. 3058, the roadway was cleared. Deputy Strouth responded to a theft on F.M. 696, information was taken. Deputy Strouth responded to suspicious activity on Clay Circle, nothing was located.

Fire destroys cotton picker

A cotton picker was destroyed by fire on Friday, Oct. 9, after a collision with a power line on County Road 260, but the operator was able to get off safely with no injury.
