Dotson gets flag on 100th birthday

Eunice Dotson of Burleson County was recently recognized by State Rep. Stan Gerdes on her 100th birthday.Dotson was presented a flag of the State of Texas that flew over the Texas Capitol on June 4.Gerdes said he wanted her to have the flag as a token of remembrance for this special birthday.

A Somerville man was arrested last week on five theft charges in connection with tires and rims stolen in 2023 in Brazos and Burleson counties, worth a total value of about $11,754.

Somerville debates fireworks contract

The Somerville City Council, initially deadlocked in a 2-2 vote over costs for a July 4 fireworks display contract at Welch Park, decided to reject the contract at their July 11 meeting.
