Homeschoolers get dirty at library event

Students got a chance to play in the dirt as they learned about composting with worms and growing plants at the Caldwell Civic Center on Thursday as part of the Harrie P. Woodson Library’s “Homeschool Meet & Greet” program.
THE CALDWELL HORNET BAND performed the National Anthem at a Texas A&M basketball game this year. The band program is holding an instrument drive this Saturday at the high school band hall to collect used instruments for its beginner band students in the fall.

Hornet Band program to hold instrument drive

The Caldwell Hornet Band program is asking residents to look in their closets, attics, basements, storage buildings and garages for old, used instruments which haven’t been played in years, and then to donate them to the program.

CELF nets over $43K at crawfish, shrimp fundraiser

Last Friday, hundreds of people got their fill of crawfish and shrimp at the Caldwell Education and Leadership Foundation’s (CELF) annual All-You-Can-Eat Crawfish and Shrimp Boil last Friday at the Burleson County Expo Center.

This weekend, hundreds of people are expected to visit downtown Caldwell to enjoy shopping, live music, food and, of course, margaritas.The Burleson County Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Margarita Fest this Saturday, May 4.Beginning at 10 a.m., there will be music by Mariachi Sanchez.

Somerville cleanup again successful

The City of Somerville’s week-long cleanup effort concluded on Saturday, April 27, with more than 100 tons of trash and rubbish collected and disposed of.Leaders say the event was successful, involving businesses and many local individuals.
