In God’s Hands food pantry benefiting from large cooler

In God’s Hands Ministry Food Pantry in Cade Lake has benefitted in the past year from a grant-funded, walk-in cooler -- making it possible to provide fresh produce on a more regular basis.

Varmint Hunt successful, funds raised for firefighters

The Second Annual RB Outdoors Varmint Hunt held last weekend drew 55 teams from rom across the state, including 25 who arrived on Sunday, March 3, for weigh-in, and raised $1,360 for the Deanville Volunteer Fire Department.

Woman dies in head-on crash on SH 21

A College Station woman died on Friday, March 1, in a head-on collision on State Highway 21 West near the F.M. 696 intersection.Julia Grasley, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene by Burleson County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Dusty Tittle.The accident occurred at 1:45 p.m.

Gene Hermes was re-elected as Burleson County sheriff on Tuesday, March 5, in the Republican Primary, defeating Jake Sullivan by a 2,561-810 vote margin.The race was one of five contested local races.

Caldwell volunteer firefighters responded to a pickup truck fire late Monday afternoon, March 4, at the Roadway Inn off State Highway 36 North in Caldwell and quickly extinguished it.

Lady Hornet soccer scores history this season

For the first time in Caldwell High School history, the Lady Hornet soccer team is in playoff contention.The team is currently 5-6 in district and sits in fourth place. And, this season’s district record is the best record Caldwell has had since it began fielding a girls’ team.
