Cochran graduates West Texas A&M

Clover Cochran of Caldwell was among 950 graduates at West Texas A&M University’s Fall 2025 commencement ceremony.Cochran earned a Masters In Education (M.Ed.) in Instructional Design & Technology, one of 288 total master’s degrees earned at the graduation.

Two locals make UMHB honor roll

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor announced the students who achieved the honor rolls for the Fall 2025 semester.Jessica Bardin of Caldwell was named to the Provost’s Honor Roll.To receive this recognition, a student must achieve a 3.85 grade point average (GPA) or better on a 4.0 scale.

POSGCD board approves Lauren Concrete permit

The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District held a public hearing at its Tuesday, Jan. 13, meeting and unanimously approved a permit application by Lauren Concrete of Rockdale for a water production permit from the Hooper Aquifer.

White to provide updates for Caldwell Council

The Caldwell City Council was scheduled to be briefed by City Administrator Camden White at its Tuesday, Jan. 20, meeting on the ongoing ERCOT load integration, the city hall demolition project and the animal shelter.

The Caldwell Rotary Club cashed in on its annual Casino Night event on Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Caldwell Civic Center.“The Casino Night is the only fundraising activity the Caldwell Rotary Club has each year,” public relations chair Amy Jurica said of the event.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host the 2026 Brazos Valley Continuing Education Unit, CEU, Conference on Jan. 30 in Caldwell.The cost of the conference, which includes breakfast and lunch, is $50 if registered before Jan. 23, and $60 at the door.

Fire damages home interior on SH 36 North

A fire gutted the interior of a home late Tuesday, Jan. 13, on State Highway 36 North, but the cause remains undetermined.Caldwell Fire Chief Harry Bowers said the fire, which firefighters responded to late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, Jan. 14, was likely caused in the fireplace area.
