SISD gives Holton extension to 2029

Eric Holton will be the Yegua Chief through June 2029.The Somerville School Board approved a 1-year contract extension for Holton during its regular meeting last Wednesday after the board evaluated his service in the superintendent position.

School, city election filings continue

Filings began last week for those running for local city councils and school boards and will continue until Feb. 13 at 5 p.m.The election for positions on city councils and school boards will be Saturday, May 2.The first day to file for the May 2 election was Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Man charged in explosives case

A Caldwell man, formerly of Dime Box, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 15, in Burleson County on a Lee County felony warrant for possession of an explosive device.
