TxDOT plans projects for 2026

TxDOT is planning several major projects in 2026, including bridge replacements along two creeks on F.M. 2039 and a two-way left-turn lane on State Highway 36 South near Kleb Street.

Firefighters battle multiple blazes

A series of grass fires burned multiple acres in the area in the first two days of the New Year, including a 31acre blaze near Yegua Creek Park off F.M. 1948 just past the Washington County line.

New year, new location for Chamber

One of the county’s oldest civic organizations is kicking the new year off with a new location, an endeavor Chamber of Commerce director Susan Mott said is “probably over two years” in the making.The Chamber will be moving from its current office space at 301 N. Main Street to 207 W.
