County sales tax shows increase in December ’25

Sales tax revenues showed an increase for December 2025 from December 2024 for Burleson County in Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock’s latest monthly report.And, both Caldwell and Snook showed increases, according to the acting comptroller.

Christmas on the Square lights up downtown Caldwell

Another year of Christmas on the Square, hosted by the Burleson County Chamber of Commerce, is in the books, and Chamber director Susan Mott said it was a resounding success.“I feel like it went well,” she said. “We had more performances this year, and we had a great turnout of people.

CISD OKs budget, academic calendars

The Caldwell ISD school board approved the 2026-27 budget calendar and academic calendar at its Monday, Dec. 15, meeting.Deputy superintendent Heather Escalante said that both of these calendars are the result of ongoing discussion and planning throughout the year.

Four Caldwell ISD students qualified for the State FFA Leadership Development Events (LDE) contest, held in Huntsville on Dec. 5.

Pena graduates paramedic program

Noah P. Pena of Caldwell was recently among 12 graduates of Blinn College’s Paramedic Program during a fall 2025 pinning ceremony at the Blinn RELLIS Administration Building at Texas A&MRELLIS.

Appraisal review board members needed

Applications are currently being accepted from citizens who would like to serve as an Appraisal Review Board (ARB) member for Burleson County.The ARB is a citizen board that resolves disputes over appraisals and other matters that they are granted authority over by the Texas Property Tax Code.
