Somerville debates fireworks contract

    The Somerville City Council, initially deadlocked in a 2-2 vote over costs for a July 4 fireworks display contract at Welch Park, decided to reject the contract at their July 11 meeting.

    Mayor Tommy Thompson, told he could not break the tie, recommended rejecting the contract and said he would pay for the fireworks display himself.
