Amie Marie Strong Young of Caldwell, Texas, went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2022, after a year and a half battle with cancer.
Private funeral services will be held in her honor.
She was born May 8, 1952, in Bryan, Texas, the daughter of Skelly and Billey Gene Strong.
She grew up in Caldwell Texas, attended the First Baptist Church of Caldwell, and graduated from Caldwell High School, where she participated in many activities, her favorites being band and volleyball.
After high school, she received an Associate’s Degree from Blinn College and her Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Education from Sam Houston State University.
Her career included: teaching at Humble Elementary School (Humble, Texas) and Klein High School (Houston, Texas) serving as Principal at Brown Schools (Austin, Texas) serving as Director of School Services and Vocational Assessment at the Neurobehavioral Institute of Houston (Houston, Texas); serving as Program Director of Del Oro Hospital, also in Houston; and serving as an Education Specialist at Region XIII Texas Education Center (Austin, Texas) and Region IV Texas Education Center (Houston, Texas).
Amie was a beautiful person with a loving, caring and giving heart. She loved her family, her friends, cats, holidays (especially decorating for Christmas), cooking and baking for others, arranging surprises and activities for anyone who visited her, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, dancing, most music (from gospel to Robert Earl Keen), all things vintage and so much more. She especially enjoyed spending time at the beach and would spend countless hours just walking along the ocean’s edge picking up seashells. Her creative talent and abilities made receiving a gift she had created just for you very special.
She was preceded in death by her father, Skelly Strong, Sr.; and her nephew, Brett Colby Strong.
Amie is survived by her daughter, Ashton Cate Rodgers; her mother, Billey Gene Strong; brother, Skelly Strong, Jr. (Dana); and sisters, Pearl Kay Wilson (Ivan) and Diane Lee (Robert); as well as her beloved nieces and nephews and great-niece and greatnephews.
We thank God for the life of Amie Marie Strong Young and the joy she brought to all of us.
We also thank Gwynn Shelton, Evonne Bellis, and the staff of Traditions Home Health and Hospice for their kind and loving care of Amie at the end of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
