Calvin “Jay” Reigel, 66, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2024, in College Station, Texas.

A public visitation will be held on April 15, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell, Texas.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in his honor on April 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. also in the chapel at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home.

Graveside service will follow at Snook Cemetery. Marci Ramirez will officiate.

Calvin “Jay” Reigel was born on November 30, 1957, to Calvin Coolidge Reigel and Oldriska Rose Matejka Reigel in Bryan, Texas. He was one of two siblings.

Jay graduated from Bryan High School in 1976, then went on to work at Texas A&M in the mailroom for 27 years, retiring in 2005.

Jay enjoyed watching and collecting movies, especially motorcycle movies and westerns.

He loved listening to music, and in his younger years collected a lot of vinyl records.

Jay especially loved dining out; Taco Tuesday at Rosa’s and Dairy Queen Blizzards were his favorites.

He loved receiving and collecting Harley Davidson Tshirts, from different dealerships all over the country, that his sister would buy and give him.

Calvin “Jay” Reigel was born on November 30, 1957, to Calvin Coolidge Reigel and Oldriska Rose Matejka Reigel in Bryan, Texas. He was one of two But Jay’s overall favorite thing to do was spend time with his mother; he talked to her on the phone daily.

He was a lover of animals, especially his sister’s Chihuahua named Tito, who sadly passed away in 2013.

Jay will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He will be forever remembered for his contagious smile and charismatic, funloving personality; someone who enjoyed making people laugh. He had a kind soul and was very devoted to his mother and sister.

Jay is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Coolidge Reigel.

He is survived by his mother, Oldriska Matejka Reigel of Bryan; his sister, Sandra Wyman and her husband, David; as well as his niece, Oldriska Wyman and her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in Jay’s honor to Brazos Valley Center for Independent Living-BVCIL, 1869 Briarcrest Drive, Bryan, Texas 77802. They are a community-based, nonprofit organization that provides much needed care for individuals with disabilities.

The family would like to especially thank Pat Morse of BVCIL, Denise Bryan, Bert Hoskins, Pete Najar, nurses and doctors from both CHI St. Joseph Hospital and Baylor Scott and White Hospital, as well as the nurses and doctors from Accel of College Station for their unwavering devotion, care and assistance provided to Jay during his time of need.
