CARL WILLIAMS JR.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Carl L. Williams Jr., 74, formerly of Caldwell, was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton.

Burial followed at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Pleasanton.

Mr. Williams died on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, in Victoria.

Carl was born in Poteet on Nov. 27, 1946.

Carl was a graduate of Pleasanton High School, Class of 1965. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where he ran track and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in 1970.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1974.

He married Margaret Drzymala in 1971 and had two children, Timothy and Carla.

Around 1975, he began working for Halliburton and remained there until he retired in 2017.

He valued family, his faith, and hard work.

Moreover, he believed strongly in higher education. He said often, “People can take a lot of things away from you, but they cannot take your degree.”

Carl was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved animals, especially his dog, Onyx.

He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Carl Williams; his mother, Lorine Williams; his father, Carl Williams Sr.; and his sister, Shirley West.

Carl is survived by his wife, Margaret Williams; his daughter, Carla Gajewskey; his son-in-law, Dr. Larry Gajewskey Jr. AKA Charlie; and his three grandchildren, Joy Gajewskey, Gloria Gajewskey, and Thaddeus Gajewskey.
