Edwin was born to Henry and Minnie (Vajdak) Kovar on July 8, 1927, in Snook.

Edwin and Ruth made their home in Snook, for a short period living with Edwin’s parents, and later at the location of their current home.
Edwin and Ruth worked together in various endeavors – construction with Edwin’s father (building many houses in the George Bush Drive and Frances Street areas in College Station), farming, operating the Kovar Cotton Gin and Kovar Hardware Store, and the hay baling business.
They enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Louisiana with friends and family.
Edwin was a storyteller and loved to tell his family about life when he was growing up – driving the school bus when he was 15 years old with no driver’s license, hauling lumber to College Station to build houses using a horse and wagon, hunting and froggigging stories – to name a few.
