Elizabeth Hundl Milsaps passed to her eternal home on June 7, 2022, at the age of 95.
She was born in Buckholts, Texas, on July 2, 1926, to Frank and Annie Marek Hundl.
Visitation for Elizabeth was held on Friday, June 10, 2022, from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. Holy Rosary began at 5:30 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell, Texas, celebrated by Reverend Melvin Dornak.
Elizabeth moved to Houston in her late teens and her Uncle Pete got her a job at Crescent laundry where she worked until she married her best friend’s brother, Buddy Milsaps, after he returned from overseas duty in the Army during WWII. They were married on September 20, 1947, at Christ the King Church in Houston.
Elizabeth was a woman of faith and service to God, her children, her family, and her community. She was coordinator for prayer chains for the ill, belonged to the Altar Society of every church that she was a member.
She drove friends and neighbors to church or to doctor appointments; she prepared and served meals for church functions and funerals.
She was active in her children’s lives, serving as school room mother, Girl Scout leader, chaperone, driver for her five children.
She was a volunteer with the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary for hundreds of hours.
Elizabeth was an advocate for children, the poor, the hungry and anyone that was disadvantaged.
She was a devout Catholic and like her mother, said the Rosary many times each day.
Elizabeth moved to Caldwell in 1990 to be the full-time caregiver to her mother. They both resided on her daughter Lois’ ranch.
Gardening, traveling, and family were her passions.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Monroe (Buddy) Milsaps; her siblings, Hattie Null, Emmanuel Hundl, and Franklin Hundl.
She is survived by her brother, Daniel Hundl of Houston; her children, Lois Lowry, Connie Turner, MC Milsaps and wife, Luisa, Gisele Flanigan and husband, Dennis, and Paul Milsaps. Grandchildren are Jason Turner, Amy Lea, Trey Milsaps, Ann Calderon, Elizabeth Wishert; and seven greatgrandchildren, Millie and Ella Turner, Seth and Ethan Lea, Carter and Hannah Milsaps, and Domenica Calderon.
