FRANCES BORCHERS

Mrs. Robert L. Borchers, nee Frances (Fran) Ann Marek, passed away at Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg, Texas, on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the age of 91 years.

Frances was born August 8, 1930, in Rural Burleson County, Texas, the daughter of Rudolph Marek and Lydia Odstrcil Marek. She married Robert Borchers in Austin, Texas, on December 1, 1952.

She is survived by three children and spouses: Kathryn and Morris Harper, Dr. Michael Borchers and Dr. Shari Addington, and Mona and Paul Knopp.

She is also survived by the following grandchildren and their spouses: Nicole and Kelly Gabriel, Dr. Ross and Lauren Harper, Stratton and Kamela Borchers, Braxton and Tomiko Knopp, Hayden Knopp and Madison Knopp. In addition, she is survived by six great-grandchildren: Garrison Gabriel, Ava Gabriel, Cohen Harper, Sophia Harper, Leighton Harper and Grayson Borchers along with nieces, nephews and one brother-in-law, Roland Borchers.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her three brothers: William Marek, Rudolph Marek, Jr. and Joe Albert Marek.

After graduating valedictorian from Snook High School, she attended and graduated from the School of Nursing at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas. She worked as a registered nurse for 50 years. Her devotion to nursing was only exceeded by her devotion to her family.

Frances was dearly loved and cherished by her family and friends, always putting them first. She took great pleasure and enjoyment in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Frances’ family would like to thank the wonderful people of Knopp Retirement Center, Knopp Healthcare and Rehab Center, Hill Country Memorial Hospital and Hill Country Memorial Hospice for the care and kindness they showed her.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home. Visitation was held Sunday, March 27, at Fredericksburg Funeral Home. The funeral service was held Monday, March 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with Pastor David Priem officiating. Grave services and interment was at Meusebach Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dr. Ross Harper, Stratton Borchers, Braxton Knopp, Hayden Knopp, Madison Knopp, Garrison Gabriel, Cohen Harper, Kelly Gabriel and Jerry Luckenbach.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospital, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or charity of one’s choice.
