A memorial service for Garlyn B. Urick, 82, of Caldwell, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church in Caldwell.
Garlyn (Honey) was born on Dec. 7, 1941, in Caldwell, to Lamar and Ellouise Smith.
She graduated from Caldwell High School.
She married Sammy Urick on June 27, 1961, and they welcomed two children together.
They made their home and raised their family in Portland, Texas.
In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, she had multiple careers in her lifetime. She was a paralegal for a law firm, helped manage several businesses with her husband, and later in life she went back to college to become an LVN.
She was also an avid horsewoman, animal lover, gardener, and trail hiker.
She loved playing “42” dominoes, country dancing, and going to the beach.
She was smart, beautiful, funny and feisty. And she loved her family, especially her granddaughter Crystal.
She died on Sept. 13, 2024.
She is survived by one son and his wife; one granddaughter and her husband; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Cremation services are entrusted to All Families Mortuary.
