A graveside service for Hildagard Thompson, 87, of Giddings, was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, at the Giddings City Cemetery with Tim Pitts officiating.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, and from 7-8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family was present for visitation Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Thompson died on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at her home in Giddings.
Hildagard Annie Lee (Baack) Thompson was born on March 23, 1934, in Loebau, Texas, to Herbert and Elsie (Matthijetz) Baack.
She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Old Dime, Texas.
Hildagard was a loving and devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother.
She was a very active lady who loved visiting with her family and friends and taking care of her German Shepherd, Rocky, and her Chihuahua, Sophie.
She enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing the slot machines, washers and poker with her friends.
She was an excellent baker who made amazing homemade cinnamon rolls and her buttermilk biscuits and gravy were always a family favorite.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mike Thompson; two brothers, Rudy Baack and Reinhard “Slim” Baack; and one sister, Laura Zwernemann.
Hildagard is survived by her daughter, Sherry Elstner of Giddings; her daughter-in-law, Carol Thompson of Caldwell; three grandchildren, Dana Spacek and husband, Russell, of Caldwell, Amy Fritcher and husband, Floyd Jr., of Caldwell, and Derek Elstner of Austin; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Spacek, Barrett Spacek, and Grace Fritcher, all of Caldwell; one sister, Lillie Perry of Houston; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Derek Elstner, Russell Spacek, Floyd Fritcher Jr., Barrett Spacek, Jordan Noack, Ryan Noack, Chad Lowe, and Ernie Voight.
