IDA JEAN MANTEY

Ida Jean Mantey, 88, of Somerville, passed away on September 25, 2024, at her home.

Ida Jean was born in Independence, Texas, on September 3, 1936, to Fritz and Louise (Schnieder) Moehlmann.

Ida Jean was married to the love of her life, Herbert Mantey, on November 27, 1955, at the First Lutheran Church in Somerville.

They were blessed with four sons and one daughter, along with many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

She loved her role as a housewife, mother and grandmother.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Somerville and the American Legion Auxil-iary in Somerville.

Ida Jean was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ricky Mantey Sr.; daughter-in-law, Connie Mantey; brother, Harlin Moehlmann; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Nell and Darvin Mantey; father and mother-in-law, Toney and Adeline Mantey; brothers-in-law, Edwin Mantey, Clarence and Delia Mantey; sisters-in-law, Mildred Moehlmann, Esther and Waldo Nienstedt and Mary Lou and Lonnie Schulz.

She is survived by her husband; her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Janet Mantey, Michael and Julie Mantey, Mark and Karen Mantey; daughter and son-inlaw, Connie and Kenneth Sebesta; brother, Freddie Moehlmann; sister-inlaw, Dorothy Mantey; and grandchildren, Kimberly Sebesta, Ricky and Kara Mantey, Jr., Rachael and Brent Sears, Justin and Hannah Mantey, Cindy Roosevelt, Patrick and Tiffany Mantey, Cortney and Orry Randermann, Matthew Mantey, Adam Mantey, Larissa Mantey, Jessica and Andrew Maale; and 16 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Kim Sebesta, Ricky Mantey, Jr., Patrick Mantey, Matthew Mantey, Adam Mantey, Justin Mantey and Rachael Sears.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham from 1:00-5:00 p.m. A second visitation was held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with family present. She laid in state on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m at Strickland in Somerville.

The funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Somerville, with burial following at Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to First Lutheran Church of Somerville or Hospice Brazos Valley.
