Isaiah Leon OlivarezMartin - our Izzy - tragically passed away on June 17, 2023, in Caldwell, Texas. He was 15 years old.

Izzy was a gentle child who harbored profound love and compassion in his heart for his friends, community, and family.

Izzy was loved deeply by his friends, family, teachers and everyone that knew him.

Up until the day he passed, Izzy slept with his childhood pillow, blanket, a stuffed duck, and his beloved bulldog, Leroy Brown.

Izzy was a homebody who enjoyed the idea of fishing.

Around the house, Izzy was his Pappaw Craig’s shadow, following him everywhere, sneaking off occasionally to clip roses off his Grandma Candy’s rose bush to make bouquets for her.

In a school assignment, Izzy described his dad as his hero. In it, he recounts his dad’s rodeo days. He said that his dad taught him: “No matter how many times you get knocked down, you always get back up.”

At the time of his death, Izzy was preparing to cross the threshold from boyhood to manhood. Weighing in at barely 90 pounds, Izzy had a goal of “beefing up” in hopes he would eventually be able to play high school football.

His former teachers remember Izzy as a great kid and a rule-following student.

Isaiah was a member of Abundant Life Tabernacle in Caldwell and also attended New Heights Church in Bryan. In Izzy’s elementary years, he played soccer and baseball in the Caldwell community.

It is devastating to be robbed of our future with Isaiah, never being able to meet the man he would have become. It is heartbreaking that the details that we’ve been presented at this time surrounding Isaiah’s death are at odds with the boy we knew and loved for 15 years. We ask for the community’s compassion as we mourn our child.

Isaiah is survived by his beloved mother, Monique Eastep Olivarez of Bryan; his beloved father and hero Joshua Martin, of Caldwell; his stepfather Jesse Camarillo, of Bryan; his siblings, Alyssa Olivarez, Jerimiah Olivarez-Camarillo, and Isabella Martin; paternal grandparents, Candace Mc-Millan-Sneed and Craig Sneed, of Caldwell; his maternal grandparents, Minnie Elaine Olivarez; Oscar Olivarez and Selma Gonzalez, of Bryan; along with numerous other beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

We will be honoring Isaiah on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 9 a.m. (visitation) with the memorial service beginning at 10 a.m., at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, 404 W. Buck Street, Caldwell, Texas 77836.
