JANICE RUBYE (ELLIS) TELG

In loving memory of Janice Rubye (Ellis) Telg… At the young age of 80, Janice Telg passed away early Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 25, 2026, at her home in Caldwell, with her loving husband, Theo, and her immediate family near her side.

Janice Rubye Ellis was born on April 15, 1945, to Jesse and Ruby Ellis of Rockdale.

Janice attended Rockdale schools until her graduation from Rockdale High School in 1963.

Janice lived and worked in Rockdale for many years until her retirement, and then she and her husband moved to the Caldwell area.

With her dedication and love of assisting others, however she was able, Janice personified the definition of a servant/ leader. She was selfless in her efforts to help others and preferred to do so anonymously, if possible. Seeing the positive results for others was the only thanks she needed. Never one to require praise for her quiet contributions, Janice was most happy when she was able to provide assistance to others.

Janice and Theo Telg were married in August 1976 and began their life together with four children, ranging in age from 12 to 2.

Residing in Rockdale, they raised their combined family in a Christian household and became cherished fixtures in the community.

Both worked at Alcoa for many years until Janice decided to open the Tanglewood Store in 1989.

After a few years, Janice went to work for the City of Rockdale, where she later became their first Public Works Director.

Between working, raising a family, attending to multiple farms and much more, Janice and Theo volunteered many hours at the Rockdale Christian Church.

Janice is survived by her husband, Theo Telg; three children, Tammy Telg (Erick Smith), Terry Petty Blanchard (John), and Tram Telg (Shannon); grandchildren, Samantha Binion (Wade), Danielle Hoatson (Mitchell), Megan Toliver (Darren), Brian Blanchard, Ben Blanchard, Erin McGibeny (Brandon), Mike Culp (Carol), Matthew Telg (Kayla), Jennifer Hughes (Cody), Hunter Lehmann, Christian Chambers (Hollie) and Wyatt Chambers (Carlee); and numerous great-grandchildren.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Ruby Ellis; daughter, Tracy Telg Chambers; brother, Leroy Ellis; sister, Carolyn Jo “Sally” Ellis Kelley; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Blanchard.

The Telg Family would like to send a special thank you to Acara Hospice Staff: Dr. Bosse, Abbie, Courtney, Amy, Courtney L., Drena, Irma and Cherie. You were all such a blessing to our family and there are not enough words to express our gratitude. We would also like to thank Janice’s primary caregiver Dr. Amina Alikhan for the many years of care and always treating her more like family than a patient.

Visitation was held on March 1, 2026, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

A funeral service was held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale on March 2, 2026, at 1 p.m. with graveside service following at Forest Grove Christian Church Cemetery.

A reception at Rockdale Christian Church Fellowship Hall was held immediately following the graveside service.
