Jay William Kristof of Bryan went to his heavenly home on March 7, 2025.
Jay was born to John and Mary (Zalmanek) Kristof on November 3, 1941, in Caldwell.
He grew up in Caldwell and worked helping his parents and eight siblings with farm and family chores.
Jay was baptized on May 9, 1949, at the Czech Moravian Brethren Church in Caldwell. His sponsors were Joe H. and Lydia M. Zalmanek. He was confirmed at the same church on August 29, 1954.
Jay graduated from Caldwell High School in May 1959. He was active in FFA and showed pigs at the county fair.
After graduation, Jay went to work for International Harvester (IH) in Bryan as a mechanic.
On April 30, 1966, he married Marijane Frances See at the Snook Brethren Church. They lived in Snook until 1975 when they moved to Bryan, and he continued to work at IH.
In 1978, they moved to Angleton where he worked for US Construction until he retired.
Throughout his life, Jay was always willing to help others, whether by working on their vehicles and equipment or loaning them money when they needed financial help.
His co-workers all said he was a very good and hard worker, and it was a pleasure to work with him.
Due to declining health, Jay and Marijane moved to the Legacy Nursing & Rehabilitation Home in Bryan on August 3, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marijane; parents, John and Mary (Zalmanek) Kristof; his daughter, Linda Kay (Kristof) Richardson; sisters, Mary Jo McMurtrey (and brother- in-law, Jack), Jane Stephens (and brother-inlaw, Jim); brothers, John Kristof (and sister-in-law, Barbara), Frank Kristof, Alvin Kristof, Raymond Kristof, Edward Kristof; and in-laws, John and Lillie (Quitta) See; and brothers-in-law, Larry Otto See and Raymond Muzny.
He is survived by his daughter, Terri Lynn Kristof Rubio; son-inlaw, John David Richardson; sister, Margie (Kristof) Muzny; brothers- in-law, John William (and wife, Dorothy) See, Edward Charles (and wife, Cathy) See, Melvin Ray (and wife, Therry) See; and sister, Peggy Ann (and husband, Clint) Williams; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Shafer) See, Joyce Kristof, Carolyn Kristof and Pam Kristof.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Amanda Wehring, Rebecca Wratten and husband, Dustin, Corinna Hunt and husband, Dylan, and Andrew Rubio and wife, Silvia; and seven greatgrandchildren, Nathan Wehring, Brayden Wehring, Daxson Wratten, Jaxson Wratten, Elaina Rubio, Adalynn Pina and Carson Gonzales.
A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Snook Brethren Church in Snook.
