Funeral services for Maria Rosario Ramon, 74, of Caldwell, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan.
Maria, lovingly known by her grandchildren as “Granny” was born on Sept. 4, 1947, to Anastacio and Juanita Calamaco in San Benito, Texas. She was one of seven children.
Maria met the love of her life, Simon Ramon Sr., in 1958 in Sinton, Texas. They were married in 1961. To this union came nine children, 23 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren.
Maria and her family settled in the Snook area in 1967, where she worked as a housekeeper.
Maria loved life and family. Among her many hobbies were gardening, dancing, traveling and gambling. She was a beautiful spirit full of laughter and love. She would often joke with family and cherished the time she spent with them. Two years ago, when she began to stay home more, she added a new love to her life, her new baby dog, Betty.
She died peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at her home.
She is survived by two brothers; one sister; nine children; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.
She was loved dearly and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
