A memorial service for Mattie Pauline Kornegay Novosad, 90, of Caldwell, was held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mattie was born on Dec. 27, 1931, to Pauline Cox Kornegay and Tom Kornegay.
She grew up in Caldwell with her seven sisters and two brothers.
Mattie owned Mattie’s Grocery in Rogers, Texas, for many years before her career with the Texas Department of Health, where she retired.
Mattie loved playing Wahoo board game and dominoes with her sisters and friends.
She loved the Red Hat Society in Caldwell and spending time at the Senior center.
She also loved making baked goods, homemade bread, watching baseball and holidays with her family.
She died on July 5, 2022, at Temple Living Center, in Temple, Texas.
She is survived by two sons; one daughter; one sister; one brother; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
