Norma Jean Gable

Norma Jean Gable passed on April 11, 2023, in Caldwell, Texas.

Norma was born in Titusville, Florida, on March 28, 1934, to Clyde and Mamie (Rickerson) Bramblett. She had one older sister, JoAnne, whom she loved dearly.

In 1952, she married George M. Gable and joined his military life until his retirement. They lived in many places, including 3 years in Spain. Upon his retirement, they settled in College Station, Texas, for many years.

Norma worked at Bealls and then moved on to Moore Business Forms.

Once both were fully retired they moved to Caldwell, Texas. They traveled in their RV and took annual trips to North Carolina, where they made many friends in their favorite campground.

The country home they created in Caldwell became the center of all major holidays for the family. She enjoyed spending time with her ever expanding family around the fireplace, the dock on the pond and all the sights and sounds of life in the woods.

She enjoyed her church family at Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church and became a volunteer for Hospice Brazos Valley in her later years. She made many friends in both groups.

George and Norma had three children: Sharon Gable, of Caldwell, Texas, Gwen Stegal (husband, Neil), of Kyle, Texas, and a son, also of Caldwell, Texas. She was “Granna” to five grandchildren: Justin Gray, Robert Gray, Jamie McCommas White (husband, Lance), Jeremy McCommas (wife, Rebecca) and Kade Gable (wife, Elizabeth). She also enjoyed seven great-grandchildren.

She is survived by Helen Hart, her sisterin- law.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; and her husband.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at the Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church in Caldwell, Texas, on May 27, 2023, 2 p.m. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or Enhabit Hospice.
