A Celebration of Life for Oscar “Potsy” Wright Newcomb, 94, of Caldwell, Texas, was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Caldwell.
Oscar “Potsy” Newcomb was born on Feb. 20, 1928, toFredSpiresNewcomband Lottie Duckworth Newcomb in Caldwell, Texas. He was one of seven siblings.
Potsy graduated from Caldwell High School in 1945.
He met the love of his life, Celia P. Hettler, in San Antonio, Texas, and they were married August 5, 1950.
Oscar enlisted in the United States Air Force where he achieved the rank of Chief Master Sargent. He retired in 1966.
After his retirement he continued work in the data processing industry.
Potsy was an avid golfer and member of Copperas Hollow Country Club.
He was active in the First Baptist Church.
He died on Thursday Oct. 6, 2022.
He is survived by two sons; two grandsons; and extended family and friends.
