The Funeral Mass for Reverend Monsignor Boleslaus John Zientek, 87, was held at 11:00 a.m. on March 26, 2022, at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 701 Church St. in Brenham.
He was born on Aug. 3, 1934, in Brenham, Texas, to the late John J. and Frances (Bilski) Zientek.
He was ordained a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Austin at St. Mary Cathedral in Austin, Texas, on May 23, 1959.
In 1989, he incardinated in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston as adjustments were made between the neighboring diocesan boundaries.
While in the Diocese of Austin, Msgr. Zientek served as Chaplain at Providence Hospital in Waco, at Guardian Angels Parish in Wallis, St. Mary in Bremond, St. Eugene in McGregor, St. Mary Church of the Assumption in West, St. Mary in Caldwell, St. Joseph in Dime Box and Immaculate Conception in Sealy. While serving with the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Msgr. Zientek served at Immaculate Conception in Sealy and St. Anthony de Padua in Danbury. He retired in 2001.
He died in Houston, Texas, on March 16, 2022.
Msgr. Zientek is survived by his brother Msgr. Benedict Zientek of Brenham.
