Mass of Christian Burial for Sally Sandoval Cortez will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Melvin Dornak officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m.
Sally passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at her home in Caldwell.
Sally was born on April 6, 1934, in Caldwell.
She was married to Fred Cortez on Nov. 25, 1949, in Cameron.
She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Mary’s Woman’s Club, Altar Society, and church choir.
Sally loved her church dearly and volunteered for church activities like baking carrot cakes for auctions, babysitting for young people and ironing clothes.
She was preceded in death by parents, Pedro Sandoval and Sara Sandoval Matamoros; sisters, Lucille Sanchez and Louise Amayo; and brother, Andrew Sandoval Sr.
Sally is survived by her husband, Fred Cortez Sr., of Caldwell; son, Fred Cortez Jr., and wife, Patricia, of Houston; daughters, Linda Davidson and husband, James, of Little Elm, Debra Faust and husband, Albert, of Deanville, and Sandra Cates and husband, Sam, of Pflugerville; brother, Santos Sandoval and wife, Carmen, of San Antonio; sister, Patsy Fino and husband, Marcelo, of Cameron; grandchildren, Marcus, Amy, and Laura Cortez, Reina Davidson, Shawn and Christy Faust, Branden and Kristine Faust, Kevin Faust, Addison Cates, Mary Cates, Samuel and Cheyanna Cates; and greatgrandchildren, Alycen, Madalyn, Caitlyn, and Savanah Faust, Kallie Cates, Skyanna, Wesley and Georgia Cates.
Pallbearers are Marcus Cortez, Shawn Faust, Branden Faust, Kevin Faust, Joseph Fino and Robert Sanchez.
Services are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Homes.
