SALLY DAWSON

Funeral services for Sally Dawson, 71, of Dime Box, Texas, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Burial followed at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Burton, Texas.

Sally Mae (Bethany) Dawson entered this world on January 29, 1951, in Burton, Texas, the daughter of Allen Bethany and Maebelle Mathis.

She received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church in Burton.

Sally attended school in Burton and graduated from Burton High School in 1970.

On October 15, 1973, Sally was united in Holy Matrimony to Kermit Dawson Sr. in Brenham, Texas.

Sally worked most of her life in the healthcare industry as a dietician, first at the Giddings Convalescent Center and then retiring from Burleson St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell in 2021.

She was a hard worker who enjoyed fishing, dancing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Sally passed from this life the evening of Friday, December 9, 2022, at CHI St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Bethany and Woodrow and Maebelle Green; two sisters, Audra Mae Green and Iris Lee Green; two sons-in-law, Joseph Moreno and Timothy Wells III; one granddaughter, Jakayla Bethany, and one great-granddaughter, Jazzabelle Alcaraz.

Sally will be mourned and dearly missed by her husband, Kermit Dawson Sr. of Dime Box; her eight children, Jonathon Bethany of Houston, Daniel Dawson of College Station, Sandra and Billy Crenshaw of Dime Box, Natasha and Michael Gonzales of College Station, Brenda and Dante Crenshaw Sr. of Ledbetter, Kermit Dawson Jr. of Dime Box, Stephanie and Da Shon Kelley of College Station, and Tiffany and Daniear Hudgen of Dime Box; her twenty-three grandchildren; her three great-grandchildren; her two brothers, Woodrow and Sabrina Green Jr. of Burton and Uless “Cookie” Green of Burton; her sister, Christine and Ollie Matson of Burton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
