SUE JOHNSON

Sue Johnson, 84, of Bryan, formerly of Caldwell, met her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 24, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Sue was born in Stilwell, Okla., on Feb. 15, 1938, to Floyd and Cozy Cain.

In 1956, she graduated from Stilwell High School after starring on the basketball court for the Lady Indians. That same year, she met the love of her life, Cecil Johnson, who would become her husband of 65 years.

She was a kind, wise and loving person, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. As a homemaker, she raised her daughter and son through their high school years in North Shore, a suburb of Houston, Texas. And later, Sue and Cecil managed their Lazy J Limousin Ranch in Caldwell, Texas. There, Sue would host numerous family holiday gatherings, as well as special events promoting the Limousin cattle industry.

One of her favorite pastimes, other than her family, was creating beautiful porcelain dolls which she sold at various craft shows and charity events. And the dolls that she gave to her grandchildren will always provide them with cherished memories of their “Nana.”

Sue was a member of First Baptist Church of Bryan and dedicated her time and talents to several community and charitable organizations, including: Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, the Caldwell Women’s Lions Club and a volunteer for the Caldwell Christians Care Ministry.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Cecil Johnson; daughter, Dana Sarles and her husband, Les III; son, Christopher Johnson and his wife, Bernadette; grandchildren, Danielle Govea, Kimberly Sarles, Les Sarles IV and his wife, Shannon, Travis Johnson and his wife, Lauren, Jacob Johnson and his wife, Autum; greatgrandchildren, Maddox Govea, Payton Govea, Alexa Johnson, Blakely Sarles, Maddie Johnson, Jameson Johnson, Hayes Sarles and Jace Johnson. Sue is also survived by the last of her nine siblings, Gary Cain and his wife, Donna.

A celebration of her life was held at First Baptist Church of Bryan on Friday, April 29, 2022.
