Funeral services for Verlie Delois Simmons, (Junnie) will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at Cooks Point United Methodist Church.
Verlie was born in Orange, Texas.
At age three the family moved to Caldwell, whe r e he a t t ended school, graduating in 1969.
Upon graduation, Verlie enlisted in the United States Army serving his country in Berchtesgaden, Germany.
After returning from military duty, he had many adventures including working in construction, sales and vehicle restoration.
He retired and moved from Florida to live closer to family. Verlie maintained a great love and passion for his family and many friends.
The love that radiated from his beautiful blue eyes and infectious smile will never be forgotten.
He died peacefully on Aug. 31, 2022.
He is survived by his ex-wife; three children; and five grandchildren; two sisters; and numerous nieces, great-nieces and nephews.
