VINCENT MALDONADO

Funeral services and Rosary for Vincent Reyes Maldonado, 74, of Caldwell, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Church cemetery in Caldwell.

Mr. Maldonado died on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas.

Vincent was born on Jan. 22, 1947, in Caldwell, to Francisco Orozco Maldonado and Basilia (Reyes) Maldonado.

Vincent was retired from BNSF Railroad with over 40 years of dedicated service.

He loved the Texas Longhorns and followed every Longhorn sport.

He was also a big fan of the Caldwell Hornets, and he also enjoyed watching the state basketball playoffs with his son James.

He enjoyed traveling to softball games with his granddaughters. Vincent was a Burleson County Girls Softball League volunteer and great fan of the sport.

For the past 45 years he attended and cheered nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their sports.

He loved singing and telling stories to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was beloved to all who knew him and will be forever missed.

Vincent is survived by his wife of 29 years, Linda Kaye Maldonado of Caldwell; daughter, Michelle (James) Gray; son, Michael Pitchford; grandchildren, Angelika Burgess, Kehren (Joshua) Gressner, Natalie Gray, Cameron Cash, William Gray, and John Gray; great-grandchildren, Aton Pitchford, Serenity Burgess, Arabella Burgess, Genesis Burgess, Aspen Kovar, Emmalynn Stringfellow, RayLynn Secrest and Damon Secrest; brothers, Ret. Lt. Col. Frank R. (Judith) Maldonado, John R. (Mary Helen) Maldonado, Thomas R. (Anna) Maldonado, Joe I. Maldonado and Paul W. Maldonado; sisters, Cande Whitlatch, Theresa (Mark) Alvarez and Helen (Gary) Junot; sister-in-law, Karen (Gerald) Zgabay; brothers-in-law, Joe Esparza, and Ernest A. Phillips III; 16 nephews; many great-nephews and nieces; many great-great-nephews and nieces; and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patsy Esparza; brother-in-law, Robert Whitlatch; nephew, Carl Esparza; and great-grandson, Benjamin Secrest.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Caldwell, or American Heart Association or American Lung Association.
