Area athletes qualify for State Track
SNOOK’S DESHUN HAMILTON punched his ticket to the UIL Class 2A State Track & Field Meet next week in Austin by placing second in the boys’ high jump at the regional meet.
THE LADY YEGUAS’ 4x200-meter relay team of Ra’Maya Carter, Emma Kovasovic, Xadria Martin and Camia Martin won the Region 4 Class 2A title with a time of 1:48.8 and qualified for the UIL Class 2A State Track & Field Meet next week in Austin. The girls also qualified for state in the girls’ 4x100-meter relay.
THE CALDWELL HORNET 4x200-meter relay team of Dontavien Johnson, Larry Davis, Jamar Hewitt and Ryan Shupak qualified for the UIL State Track & Field Meet by placing second at regionals.
THE LADY HORNET 4x400-meter relay team of Delayni Drgac, Elizabeth See, Daisha Denson and Ja’Asia Mathis placed third at the Region 3 Class 3A Track and Field Meet last week with a time of 4:10.70.
All three Burleson County high schools will be sending athletes to the UIL State Track & Field Meet next week.
The Somerville Lady Yeguas’ 4x200-meter relay team of Ra’Maya Carter, Emma Kovasovic, Xadria Martin and Camia Martin won the Region 4 Class 2A title with a time of 1:48.8.
The team’s regional time has them sitting as the eighth seed at the state championships.
