Lady Jays soar past Lady Yeguas 62-13

The Lady Jays opened the District 26-2A season with a big 62-13 win over rival Somerville last Friday at home. Snook had an early commanding 20-4 lead by the end of the first quarter, led by freshman Dakota Kienow with 12 points in the frame.

Hornets get district win over Manor New Tech 71-66

The Caldwell Hornets rallied for a 71-66 road win over Manor New Tech last Friday, giving them their first district win in almost two years. More importantly, it evened their district record at 1-1, after a 5251 heartbreaker road loss to La Grange on Jan. 2.

Somerville controls 4th, beats Bellville 66-57

Somerville’s defensive press in the fourth quarter helped the Yeguas create some turnovers and break out of a close game to win 66-57 over Bellville last Friday at home. Somerville improved to 16-5 overall with the win, despite being short three players.

Lady Hornets go 1-1 in district last week

The Lady Hornets split their district games last week to land in a tie with Giddings for fourth place in the District 22-4A standings. As of Tuesday, Jan. 9, Taylor sat alone at the top of the standings with a perfect 4-0 record in district play.

Snook wins close ones over Frost, Valley Mills

The Snook Bluejays picked up two big road wins last week over Frost and Valley Mills to finish non-district play. Snook defeated Frost 54-48 last Friday and Valley Mills 44-41 on Tuesday, Jan. 2, improving to 8-12 overall heading into the district opener this Friday at Normangee.

Snook loses four games at Schulenburg Tournament

Snook lost four games last week at the Schulenburg Tournament, falling to 6-12 overall. The Bluejays fell to Hallettsville 54-26 in game one on Wednesday, Dec. 27 and to Hempstead in the second game, 54-30. On Thursday, Dec. 28, the Bluejays fell to Wallis Brazos 60-25 and to Columbus 61-50.
