During the Somerville- Burton game last Friday night in Giddings, Crawford led the Yeguas in tackles with 14 -- six solo and eight assists -- and led the team in reception yards with 130, including 55-yard and 76-yard TD receptions.

During the Lady Hornets’ bi-district win over Houston Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy, Urbanovsky led the team in assistswith 26. She also had a great night at the service line with four aces and a run of nine serves in a row during the first set.

Yeguas battle hard, fall to Burton 35-19

Somerville quarterback Barrett Howe connected on two long TD throws to Keith Crawford, but Burton used ball control and its strong running game to take control in a 35-19 win over the Yeguas last Friday in Giddings. The game was played at a neutral site at Burton’s request.

CHS JV VB falls to Giddings

In the final match of the season, the Caldwell High School junior varsity volleyball team fell to Giddings on the road 17-25, 14-25. Individual stats included: Mercy Chollett, seven kills; Tanzley Johnson, nine assists; Kylie Vogler, three kills.

Hornets fall to unbeaten Cuero 62-7, drop to 0-8

Caldwell expected a team loaded with talent, and they were not surprised in a 62-7 road loss to unbeaten Cuero last Friday. The Gobblers improved to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in district play while the Hornets remained winless in eight games.

CHS’ Ellis competes at regional XC meet

Caldwell High School’s Spencer Ellis finished 84th in the boys race at the UIL Class 4A Region 3 Cross Country Meet at Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park in Huntsville on Monday. Ellis ran the race in a time of 18:59.01. Luke Anderson of Salado won the race with a time of 15:59.47.
