LICKING WOUNDS -- After a week off to think about how everything went wrong against the Sooners, the now #8 Texas Longhorns have hopefully licked their wounds and are ready to get back after it. It’s never any fun losing. But it’s how you respond to those losses is the telling story.

Lady Yeguas fall to Milano in straight sets

The Lady Yeguas had one match last week a home match against Milano, with Somerville falling 17-25, 7-25, 1725. Somerville’s offense was led by Aubrey Kovasovic with seven kills, and the defense was led by Averie Hernandez with 22 digs.

Ethan Janac Bluejay Cross Country Last week at the District 26 - 2 A Cross Country Meet, Janac placed third in the boys varsity race with a time of 18:35, qualifying for the Class 2A Region 4 Meet in Corpus Christi.

Snook offense struggles in 27-0 road loss to Burton

The Snook Bluejays fell to Burton 27-0 last Friday in Burton. Snook, 1-6 overall and 1-2 in district play with a forfeit win over Runge, struggled offensively with just 12 rushing yards and 82 total yards as Burton improved to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in district play.

Hornets give up big plays, fall to La Grange 53-21

The Caldwell Hornets established a running game in the first half and trailed just 26-21 late in the second quarter against La Grange, but the Hornets gave up too many passing yards and big plays in the second half and fell 53-21 last Friday in Caldwell.

Lady Hornets fall to La Grange in four sets

The Lady Hornets had a bye last Tuesday, and then hosted district rival La Grange on Friday in a crucial match, falling to the Lady Leps 28-26, 12-25, 16-25, 2325.

Gonzales dominates Caldwell in 56-7 win

Gonzales’ big offensive and defensive lines dominated Caldwell last Friday, holding the Hornets to just 78 total yards, as the Apaches won 56-7. Caldwell fell to 0-6 for the season and 0-1 in district play, as the Apaches improved to 3-3 and 1-0 in league play.

CHS tennis loses to Taylor to end district

Caldwell hosted Taylor on Oct. 2 in their final district match of the team tennis season, edged out by the Ducks 9-10. With the loss, the Hornets finished the season fourth in District 204A and was scheduled to play its bi-district match against Lago Vista in Taylor on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
