Janac earns silver at Lexington XC Meet

Snook’s Ethan Janac earned the silver medal in the varsity boys race at last Saturday’s Lexington Cross Country Invitational. Both Snook and Caldwell ran in the meet. Janac finished the race with a time of 18:14.20 to earn second place.

Madisonville dominates in 63-0 win over Caldwell

It was a long night for the Caldwell Hornets. The Hornets struggled with Madisonville’s speed and athleticism as the Mustangs built a big early lead and cruised to a 63-0 win last Friday in Madisonville.

Lady Yeguas fall to Bartlett

The Somerville Lady Yeguas fell to Bartlett on the road last Friday in four sets 25-22, 2225, 20-25, 22-25. Somerville was scheduled to play Faith Academy on Tuesday, Sept. 19. The Lady Yeguas begin district play on Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Milano.

Herschel Conway rushed for 107 yards and had three catches for 62 yards as the Somerville Yeguas showed some improvement last Friday in a 26-17 road loss to Kenedy. Somerville, rushing for 96 yards and passing for 146, fell to 0-4 for the season despite a strong second half rally.
Last week against Kenedy, Conway rushed for 107 yards -- including a third quarter 48yard touchdown scamper -- and had three catches for 62 yards -- including a 58-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter.

The Caldwell junior varsity volleyball team fell to Splendora in the consolation match at the Anderson Shiro Tournament 20-25, 2628. The Lady Hornets were 3-1 at the tournamet with wins over Hempstead (25-15, 2515), Navasota (25-23, 25-22) and Teague (2512, 26-24).

Last Saturday, the Caldwell freshman volleyball team placed second in the Anderson-Shiro Tournament. The team came home with wins over Teague (25-7, 25-20), Groveton (25-14, 25-16) and Madisonville (23-25, 17-25). Coach Delaney Loosemore said, “All of the girls did a fantastic job.
