Anderson-Shiro dominated Snook with a balanced offensive attack and a stifling defense in a 52-0 win last Friday in Snook. Anderson improved to 3-0 for the season while Snook fell to 0-3.

Lady Hornets open district with a win over Smithville

The Lady Hornet Varsity Volleyball team kicked off district play last week by defeating Smithville on Friday at home in a four-set match 25-14, 25-22, 2225, 25-23.

Yeguas give up big yards in Weimar loss 66-14

The Somerville Yeguas defense was unable to stop explosive Weimar, who scored 47 first-half points and compiled 523 yards of total offense, in a 66-14 home loss last Friday. The Yeguas, now 0-3, struggled with defensive line play and Weimar’s fast-paced, run-oriented offense.

Trnka, Garcia take Kolache Krunch titles

Caldwell High School graduate Kymberlee Trnka continued her Kolache Krunch 5K dominance -- once again winning the fastest female title in last Saturday’s race. The Burleson County Aggie Mom’s Club hosted the event prior to the opening ceremony of the Kolache Festival. Trnka’s time of 20:55.

Hornets improve in 28-21 Jarrell loss

The Caldwell Hornets took control on offense for the first time, put together some steady drives and almost got a victory last Friday at Jarrell.

ALMOST NAILED IT -- I picked the big upset with the 7-point underdog #11 Texas Longhorns pulling out an unlikely win over the #4Alabama Crimson Tide. And to top it off, I darn near predicted the exact score! I told you the Longhorns would win 3121, and the final score turned out to be 34-24.

Snook XC runs in Hillacious 2023

Snook cross country traveled to Brenham last Saturday to run in the Hillacious 2023. In the boys varsity race, Ethan Janac finished with a time of 19:24.30; Tristen Yen had a time of 21:36.30; and Shawn Eaton crossed the finish line with a tie of 28:43.80.

Yeguas run at Moulton

The Running Yeguas competed at the 2023 Moulton Cross Country Meet last Saturday. Gavin Williams finished 55th in the Varsity Boys 1A-2A race with a time of 27:47.89. Taylor Warrick of Stockdale won the race with a time of 16:29.07.

CHS JV vball beats Somerville, falls to Smithville

Last Tuesday, the Caldwell JV volleyball team traveled to Somerville, beating the Lady Yeguas in straight sets 25-14, 25-9.

All four Caldwell Junior High volleyball teams added wins to their win columns last week against Smithville. The eighth-grade A team easily defeated the Lady Tigers 25-10, 25-8. Coach Giese said, “The win was a huge team effort.
