Hughson, Chapman compete at state tennis tournament

Caldwell’s Connor Hughson and Waylon Chapman competed in the UIL Class 4A State Tennis Tournament in boys doubles last week at the Annemarie Tennis Center in San Antonio. The duo fell in the first round to Eli Frosch and Kayden Lengacher of Kaufman 0-6, 3-6.

Becker throws shutout in Lady Jay bi-district win

Last Thursday, Snook ace Aubrey Becker threw a seven-inning shutout against Centerville to lead the Lady Jays to a 9-0 win in Caldwell. Becker allowed only one hit, striking out 16 and walking one.

Somerville falls to Mumford in two shutouts

The Somerville Yeguas lost to Mumford in two games last week -- 16-0 on Tuesday, April 25, at home and 12-0 on Friday, April 28, in Mumford. In game one, Mumford led 3-0 in the first two innings and then added eight runs in the third for an 11-0 lead.

Lady Yeguas fall to Leon in bi-district playoff series

In a best-of-three series, the Lady Yeguas fell to Leon in two games, not needing game three. Game 1 was in Somerville last Friday, with Somerville losing 11-2. The Lady Yeguas had a 2-0 lead going into the top of the third when a Leon batter singled on a 3-2 count to score two runs.

RTC rallies for 15-4 win at Snook

The Snook Bluejays fell to Round Top-Carmine 15-4 on Wednesday, April 26, at home. Snook had a good start, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning for 2-0 lead, but the Cubs rallied with four runs in the top of the fourth and four more in the fifth for an 8-2 lead.
