Last week, Cowan won the boys high jump at the area meet with a leap of 6 feet seven inches. He also placed second in the 300-meter hurdles, the long jump and the triple jump.

Somerville loses early lead, falls to Richards 16-6

The Someville Yeguas fell to Richards 16-6 in a Tuesday, April 18, road game. Somerville scored four runs in the top of the third for a 5-1 lead before Richards rallied in the bottom of the third with four runs to tie it at 5-5.

Canon places at homeschool state track championships

Last Friday, Caldwell’s Cayle Canon, a member of the Aggieland Panther Track Team, competed in the Texas State Homeschool Track and Field Championships JV Division in Tomball. Canon finished fourth in 300-meter hurdles with a time of 55.70.

Snook struggles with errors in 9-0 loss to Iola

The Snook Bluejays struggled with errors in a 9-0 loss to Iola on Friday, April 21, in a game moved to Caldwell due to field conditions. Iola led 2-0 after the first two innings and 5-0 after the third. The Bulldogs added one run in the top of the fourth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Four Somerville High School tennis athletes recently competed at the UIL Region 4 Class 2A Tennis Tournament in Corpus Christi. Barrett Howe and Averie Hernandez competed in the mixed doubles division and Aubrey Kovasovic and Wendy Perez played in the girls doubles division.

Last week, the Caldwell boys doubles team of Waylon Chapman and Connor Hughson punched their ticket to the UIL Class 4A State Tournament after winning a playback match in the regional tournament at Bryan High School and placing second.

Somerville loses two to Burton

The Somerville Yeguas lost their two-game series to Burton last week, 14-0 and 15-0. In game one, Somerville gave up four runs in the first inning and, nine in the second and one in the third. Somerville was held to one hit with four errors, and Burton had eight hits with no errors.
