Snook falls to Iola, twice to Mumford

The Snook Bluejays fell to Iola 17-0 on Monday in Iola and lost a two-game series to Mumford last week, 17-0 and 16-1. In the Iola game, the Bulldogs built a 6-0 lead through two innings and added 11 runs in the third to complete the scoring.

Last week at the UIL 2A - District 25/26 Area Track & Field Meet, Macik won the girls shot put with a toss of 35-10.50 and qualified for the UIL Region 4 Class 2A meet later this month.

Lady Jays fall to Mumford

Last Tuesday, the Lady Jays lost a home district game to Mumford 6-3. The game was tied 1-1 when the Lady Mustangs scored five runs to take a 6-1 lead. Snook fought back in the bottom of the seventh, however the Lady Jays were only about to muster two runs.

Lady Hornets clinch District 22-4A title

Last week, the Lady Hornets clinched the District 22-4A title with wins over Smithville and La Grange. Last Tuesday on the road, Caldwell caged the Lady Tigers with a 14-0 win, lead by Callie Fletcher on the mound, allowing just two hits. Fletcher also struck out 11 Smithville batters in the win.

Hornets, Lady Hornets run in district track meet

After rain resulted in the District 22-4A Track & Field Meet being rescheduled, several Caldwell varsity athletes qualified for the Area Track Meet. Any relay or individual placing in the Top 4 in a varsity event qualifies for area.

Snook’s Becker throws shutout against Iola

Last Tuesday night in Snook was a time to celebrate. The Snook ISD community honored the Lady Jay seniors on the softball team for Senior Night.

Lady Hornets continue to roll over district foes

The Lady Hornets continue to dominate District 22-4A with their latest victories over Taylor and Giddings. Last Tuesday’s road game in Taylor was the closest a district opponent has gotten to defeating the Lady Hornets -- even taking an early 3-1 lead in the first inning.

Lady Yeguas fall to Mumford 17-9

Last Tuesday, both offenses were highscoring, with Mumford coming out on top over Somerville 17-9. The Lady Mustangs scored first when a runner on third crossed home on a line drive single to center field. Mumford added two more runs in the top of the first for an early 3-0 lead.

Hornets smash Manor New Tech in 2 games

The Caldwell Hornets dominated Manor New Tech last week in two games -- a 15-3 road win on Tuesday and a 13-0 home win on Saturday. Caldwell, 8-10-1 headed into this week’s games, also had a combined no-hit shutout by their four pitchers in game two.
